New Album

Anywhere is the 5 song original release from Tony Thunder. A genre crossing trip through pop, hard rock, grungy blues and beyond. Featuring the title track, the alt-pop Anywhere, the sizzling social media skewer of 15 Minutes, the poppy heartache of Scar, the manic warning of War March and the sludgy but bluesy Dopesick. Each song stands on its’ own, but taken together, you get the full picture of Tony’s influences and songwriting styles.

All songs were written, performed, recorded and engineered by Tony Thunder. The drums loops were also programmed by Tony. The effort was recorded from March to October 2020 at Tony’s home studio, “Kona Kai” in beautiful upstate NY.

The sound of Anywhere is a result of a few years Tony spent writing and tinkering at his home studio. Working with award winning composer AJ Gundell, Tony worked to hone and craft his sound and songwriting. All songs were mixed by Tony Thunder and mastered by Rick Slater.

About Tony

Tony Thunder (aka Tony “Thunder” Jimenez) jumped head first into the Westchester NY music scene hard in 1990. Most notably making a name for himself being a “triple threat” – singing, playing guitar (lead, rhythm and acoustic 6 & 12 string) as well as keyboards. Tony worked his way through the scene with bands like 100 Proof and The Bad Boys eventually getting the attention of the members of NYC Alice In Chains tribute act FACELIFT. From 1994 to 2013 Tony and the band played over 80 venues from Florida to Massachusetts including NYC venues The Grammercy Theatre, Irving Plaza, Bowery Ballroom, Highline Ballroom, BB Kings and The (original) Hard Rock Cafe. Along the way got to meet and jam with notables like Ace Frehley (KISS), Jerry Cantrell & Mike Starr (Alice In Chains), Eddie Ojeda (Twisted Sister), Lifer and the ZO2 boys.

More recently Tony had been making waves on the local scene with Devil Kitty. The band was a fun, but seriously hard rocking and hard working energetic 4 piece led by the vocals and lead guitar work from Tony. He also would split time with classic rock stalwarts The Difference, where he enjoyed playing more keyboards.

But with recent changes to the music scene Tony decided it was time to put a professional touch on these songs for his debut release EP Anywhere. Working with award winning composer and producer AJ Gundell of Future Hits, Tony was able to give the songs the fit and finish they needed to be fully formed. Recording took place at Tony’s home studio “Kona Kai” from March to October of 2020. Tony played all instruments, sang all vocals, programmed all drum loops and mixed all of the songs too. Mastering was done by Rick Slater in November 2020, his resume is lengthy and impressive. Tony took a full-on DIY approach to this release taking on all recording duties, graphics design, website design, self publishing, self releasing and self directing and editing the videos.

Kicking off with title track ‘Anywhere’, the jangly 12-string alt-rocker features complex layered harmonies and was the most recently written song. Next up is the searing social media riffage of ’15 Minutes’, following next is ‘Scar’ an electro-pop-rocker again featuring Tony on his 12-string, but following it up with a sizzling lead. Next track is ‘War Dance’, this down tuned slammer is a statement on the horror of war, last but not least is the sludgy longing blues of Dopesick.
